SAFETY: Safety Policy

The personal health and safety of each Aurora Transport Ltd employee is of primary importance. The prevention of occupation-induced injuries and illnesses will take precedence over operational productivity where necessary. To the extent practicable, management will provide all mechanical and physical facilities required for personal safety and health in keeping with the highest standards.

Aurora Transport will maintain a health and safety program conforming to the best practices of organizations of this type. This type of program starts with proper attitudes towards injury and illness prevention on the part of management and workers alike. As well, co-operation between co-workers must be practiced for this safety culture to mature.

The objective of this health and safety program is to keep accidents and injuries to an absolute minimum, and therefore, our goal is zero accidents and zero injuries.

Our health and safety program will involve
· Providing mechanical and physical safeguards to the greatest extent possible
· Conducting a program of safety inspections to find and eliminate unsafe working conditions and practices
· Training all employees in acceptable health and safety practices
· Providing necessary PPE and instruction for its use
· Developing and enforcing health and safety rules and a requirement that all personnel comply with these rules as a condition of employment
· Investigate every accident promptly and thoroughly in order to determine the cause and to correct the problem so it will not re-occur.

We recognize that the responsibilities for health and safety are shared.
· The employer accepts the responsibility for leadership of the health and safety program, for it effectiveness and improvement and for providing the safeguards necessary to ensure safe conditions.
· Supervisors are responsible for developing the proper attitudes towards health and safety in themselves and in those they supervise and for ensuring that all operations are performed with the utmost regard for the health and safety of all personnel involved.
· Employees are responsible for complying with all aspects of the health and safety program including its rules and regulations and for continually practicing safety while performing their duties.
